The A Team

Our volunteer team – the ever-resourceful ‘A Team’ – is co-ordinated by Steve Pratt, and carries out maintenance and minor improvement work across the estate.  Unless the weather is really bad, they meet on Tuesday mornings from 09.30 at the Hub, with tea and doughnuts usually on offer around 11.00.

Currently the team numbers around 15 but Steve will always welcome new members as not everyone can make it every week and some people can only help when there’s work to be done at weekends.

The jobs the team tackles range from decorating to plumbing and minor building work though to fence repairs and hedge cutting around the fields and the footpath.  At the heavy end of the range was clearing a fallen tree from the footpath after Storm Eunice in February 2022.

As a measure of the contribution the A Team makes, during 2022 they logged 930 hours on repairs and maintenance work, saving the Parish Council at least £10,000 in labour costs.

If you’d like to join the A Team, send us an email at stfrancisfieldsnorthiam@gmail.com including a contact number and we’ll put you in touch with them.  Alternatively, just turn up at the Hub(*) on a Tuesday morning and say hello.

(* If you’re not familiar with St Francis Fields, you get to the Hub by coming through the main gate of the estate next to the boarded-up Muddy Duck pub and following the drive up and around to the right of the small oast)
